Migration Guide for Checklick Classic Online Registration Customers

On November 30, 2016, we'll be migrating Checklick Classic users to the newest version of Checklick.

If you are a sailing club who uses Sail Canada programs, you are likely using Checklick Classic.

If you need to keep your online registration (storefront) pages running during this transition, read on! There are some important things you need to do before November 30, 2016.

What do I need to do before November 30?

Almost all of your information and settings from Checklick Classic will be automatically moved over to the most recent version of Checklick overnight on November 30, 2016. Most clubs won't need to do anything at all.

However, if you are using Checklick Classic's online registration system, and require it to continue working in early December 2016, you'll need to do the following before November 30, 2016:

  1. Create a new organization account at Just click create new organization, fill in the fields, review the terms and conditions, and click make new organization. Note that it is critical that your organization name be exactly the same as it is in Checklick Classic. If your organization's name doesn't match during the migration on November 30, 2016, a new organization will be created for you. It's not a disaster, but it may mean your online registration page (storefront) won't be available on December 1, 2016.
  2. Link a bank account to your new organization account. This will be the account where Checklick deposits your online registration (Storefront). To do this, click storefront on the top navigation bar, and click the button entitled account setup required. You'll be asked for some information about your organization by our credit card processor, Stripe. Most of this information is for anti-money laundering purposes.

That's it! Once you've completed these steps, on November 30, 2016, we'll migrate all of your information over to this new organization account (including all your courses and registration records).

If you have any questions or issues with these steps leading up to November 30, 2016, please contact us! We'd be happy to help.

What is "Storefront"? What happened to "Online Registration"

"Storefront" is the new name for what used to be called "Online Registration" in Checklick Classic. It has almost all of the same features, plus many new features and improvements.

Will my online registration page’s URL be the same?

In most cases, yes! As long as your own website and marketing material points to [your name], you’re new Storefront page will work just fine.

However, if you’ve added anything to the end of your url (for example: [your name], this link will no longer function. It’s important to just use the short form of your URL.

If you are using another form of link, and you aren’t able to change it, please contact us, as we may be able to find a work-around for your specific issues.

What happened to my waitlists?

Waitlists have been totally overhauled in the latest version of Checklick.

In Checklick classic, waitlists were simple dated lists, and it was up to you (the manager) to contact people on the waitlist and ask them to register when a space became free.

In the latest version of Checklick, the waitlist feature lets customers sign up for a full course or product, and enter their credit card details. When a space becomes available, you (the manager) can immediately charge the customer’s card and add them to the course or product.

Because Checklick Classic did not collect credit card information from waitlisted people, people on waitlists in Checklick classic were not imported into the latest version of Checklick. If your club or organization had waitlisted people when your migration occurred, we’ll email you (the manager) a spreadsheet with all your waitlist data. Contact us if you didn’t receive this after your migration.

What happened to the "notes" field?

The notes field no longer exists, however all of the information from this field was moved to a SKU Question for each order. To see your notes, open the order and look for a SKU question called "V3 Notes".

What happened to my “discount verification notes”?

If you had a per-course discount set up with a discount verification note (such as a membership discount that asked for a membership number), these questions have been re-created as SKU questions in Checklick Storefront.

It’s important to note that SKU questions aren’t tied to specific discounts, so if you set a SKU question to be mandatory, your customers will need to answer it, regardless of whether they opt into using a specific discount.

In Checklick Classic, the notes field recorded whether a discount was applied, and any text the customer entered into the discount verification note. This information has been saved as a SKU question/answer. See the section above for details.

Why do “transferred” registrations from Checklick Classic show up as “removals” and “forgiven” cash payments?

In Checklick classic, it was possible to apply a payment from an earlier registration to a newer registration. For example, if someone registered for Course A for $100, and later wanted to be transferred to Course B for $100, you could transfer them to Course B, and let their payment for Course A substitute a new payment for Course B.

In the latest version of Checklick, orders (registrations) are kept independent of one another. This means that transfers work like this:

  • Course A is refunded 100%
  • Person is removed from Course A
  • Course B is charged for 100%.
  • Person is added to Course B

Because of this difference, registrations imported from Checklick Classic with transfers will show up a bit differently:

  • Course A is not refunded
  • Person is removed from Course A
  • Course B is marked as “cash payment forgiven” (ie nothing paid and nothing owing)
  • Person is added to Course B.

This can become more complex if a person was transferred multiple times. Feel free to contact us if you are unclear about a specific order or registration that was imported from Checklick Classic.

Where are the records of deposits into my bank account from Checklick Classic?

In Checklick Classic, you may have been used to going to the Reports tab, and seeing a table listing all weekly payouts to your club or organization.

Checklick’s storefront feature uses a different banking system than Checklick Classic, and because of this, your records for Checklick Classic payouts won’t appear on the Bank Transferred page. During your migration, you’ll be emailed a spreadsheet of the weekly payout table for weeks prior to your migration. Contact us if you haven’t received this information.

For all purchases made after your migration, you can see a list of bank payouts on the bank transfer page.
